Pokemon™ Champion Island DVD Board Game Amazon Price: $18.19 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 Review (rating: 5): I bought this game on sale and was a little concerned after reading the reviews. My 6 1/2 year old boys LOVE this game. They have been playing it since they woke up today. The games have been averaging 40 minutes with two players. Entertaining fun game for Pokemon lovers. Its less loud than when they play with their Pokemon figures or plush toys. |

Pokemon EX Diamond & Pearl Mysterious Treasures Booster Pack Lot (3 Packs - 1… Average Customer Rating: 4.0 Review (rating: 4): Great price for a good variety of Booster Packs, just try to find these recent Pokemon collectors faves at your local hobby or comic book shops for these prices. Much excitement putting these in collectable books for recent Diamond and Pearl sleeve collector books, also found at good price at Amazon. My boys were throwing the big toys to the side under the Christmas tree after opening a simple sure shot all year round fun activity that is what I,ve found to be great from pre tween intro to more mature stamp/coin collecting. Like comic books it a great way to get your kids an introduction into what maybe a more mature family group great time with beautiful artwork through trading and game play! |

Pokemon Diamond Amazon Price: $33.99 Used Price: $20.29 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 Review (rating: 3): I bought this for my 9 year old son. Also bought the Pearl edition for my 7 year old daughter. They share a Nintendo DS and are constantly fighting to use it. Each session has to be time-limited, and they act like they’re going through withdrawls when they are not playing. But they have to "earn" playing time through chores and good behavior, which balances out all that fun. They enjoy talking strategy and comparing the Pokemon they’ve caught or battled. They’ve also made it clear that they can trade their Pokemon with each other if they BOTH have a DS. Hmmm… Anyway, if you don’t mind your kids being addicted to a good, clean, non-violent video game (like we were), this appears to be the ultimate for now. |

Pokemon Pearl Amazon Price: $33.99 Used Price: $28.55 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 Review (rating: 4): Other than playing a few Pokemon games years ago, I’ve never really been into Pokemon. Not because it never interested me(as I’m a level grinding fanatic), it’s just I’ve always had a problem with buying two games just to ‘catch ‘em all’. It seems wrong to me when the other game has very little to no changes in it that would warrant me getting it when one game would suffice. At any rate, I was compelled to get the new Pokemon game for the DS. I think it was more out of curiosity to see what Game Freak would produce on the DS. For the most part, I was pleased with the game. Pearl offers more of the same deep and addictive gameplay we’ve played in Pokemon all these years with just enough new monsters and things to do to keep me interested. It’s easily the best Pokemon game yet. A game any DS owner should add to their library. However, even so, there were a few things I found fault in with the game. Due to technical limitations of the GameBoy, GameBoy Color & the GameBoy Advance; I could understand why they resorted to keeping the game 2-D with odd yelps and grunts for your Pokemon yet we now have a handheld that can produce full 3-D and great audio so why have only the overworld map in 3-D & not the battles and why keep the same odd yelps and grunts? It’s been proven a game like this can be done in 3-D…just take a look at Dragon Quest Monsters-Joker. It would have been cool to see ba… |

Pokemon Fire Red Version Amazon Price: $18.99 Used Price: $12.50 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 Review (rating: 4): Pokemon started with two games in Japan - Red and Green. Those were back in the days when the Game Boy had black and white dot matrix graphics, and where there were only 151 of the critters to catch. The series has grown remarkably since then. Now, it returns to its roots with Pokemon Fire Red. Fire Red is a mostly faithful recreation of the original Pokemon game. It features the original region, the classic Team Rocket, and the quest to defeat the Elite Four and become the Pokemon League champion. Admittedly, the plot is pretty one-dimensional and has been repeated ad nasuem by other Pokemon games. This is the game in its original form. In addition to the return to the original, Fire Red features travel to several other new islands, where Pokemon from later versions appear. Furthermore, there are new moves and a few other additions that build on the original adventure. The graphics are all greatly improved, and the game comes with a wireless connector that allows for easier trades and combat with other players. Pokemon always has a few weaknesses, and Nintendo hasn’t dared mess with a formula that is working. Specifically, the plot is pretty linear, and doesn’t have some of the options that have worked their way into later editions of the game (contests, for instance). Also, the number of random battles in certain areas becomes tiring and repetitive after a while. However, these f… |
